Sunflower Drive 2007

Project Status: Complete
Date agreed: 20th February 2007

Project Outline

We wanted the first project to be easily achievable and not have must cost involved. It is also important that the first project helps build some awareness of the Society so that we can start increasing membership. The idea of this proposed project is to encourage people to plant sunflowers in their gardens around the Island – especially where they can seen from the road. This will brighten up the island during the summer hopefully get people talking.

How it would work: Small packets of sees will be made up with some information about the society included. These will be sold at events and hopefully through a couple of outlets on the island for a nominal sum to cover costs and hopefully make a few pennies for the society account. A prize of some sort could potentially also be offered for the tallest sunflower or for the best display.

Project Updates

20th Feb 07

Although voting is technically still open on this project, we have already received votes in favour of it from over half of the total membership. This is not only a great endorsement for the project, but also for the efficiency of the newly formed society. Thanks everyone.

I am happy to say that The Sunflower Drive will definitely be our first project. Watch this space for updates.
